KimSim Design & Media will close its doors for the last time on August 15th 2019. Not really a difficult decision to make, it has been fun, but there comes a time to move on if you're not enjoying something you once loved and enjoyed.
KimSim Design & Media was founded in 2003. The business was set up when I ventured in to the world of games software, in particular producing commercial retail and self-published add-ons for Microsoft Train Simulator. The name KimSim comes from an amalgamation of my first name and "Simulation". Having my own part-time business brought numerous requests from friends, family, and local contacts to produce designs for printed items and websites on a freelance basis. When approached by several software publishers to produce commercial content for the game, I decided to start the KimSim business to take care of the financial aspects of this extra income, which opened up new possibilities to expand the creative artwork and website design side of my work. In 2007, with a young family on the scene and a particularly bad experience with a greedy developer, I totally ceased the software development and concentrated on the slightly less time-consuming graphic design part of the business.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to all of my customers for their support from the past 16 years. Designing websites, drawing bus route maps, building eCommerce portals, designing logos, providing emails and domain services, photography, exhibition and display design, signage, signwriting, I've done allsorts, and it's been a blast.....who knows, maybe I'll go back to Train Simulator development!
